The Drawbridge was an independent quarterly of thought, wit and reflection giving equal focus to literature and visual arts, published in London from 2006 to 2013.

With each issue, authors and artists cast an unflinching look at a timely theme. The combination of ideas and insights showcased the best photography, artwork and writing, including classic fiction, new essays and short stories, many of which were published in English for the first time.

Originating as a full-colour newspaper, The Drawbridge later appeared in book format and as an app for iPad.

"A cunning construction of reinforcement and defence, The Drawbridge lives up to its name."
John Berger
